Cokenach 50/50 Cricket Development Club
I am writing to you as either a past or current supporter of Cokenach Cricket Club hoping that you will join a new venture to provide funding for the club facilities and also to have a bit of fun.
Cokenach Cricket Club is one of the most successful youth cricket clubs in the area and all of this has been achieved since 1999 when the first tentative steps were taken to start a youth section of the club. It is very common for me, as with many other parents, to be watching a school cricket match where my children are playing against others who have had their cricketing skills honed to a high level on the Cokenach square and it adds an additional competitive edge to the matches! At the same time the adult section has enjoyed progressive success in the local leagues as well and the pavilion wall is covered in the shields won by the youth and adult sections of the club over the last 10 years.
Many of you will be aware that the change of ownership of Cokenach Estate has meant that the club is moving its ground to another part of the estate nearer to the Barkway road. This means there is a great opportunity to improve the club’s facilities and there are advanced plans for a substantial new pavilion, amongst other things. All of this requires funding and the club has made huge strides in organising the means to finance the development. What we want to do now is to provide an increase in the club’s regular income to make sure that the facilities can be maintained and improved.
To help achieve this we are launching the 50/50 Club and the plan is very simple. We are looking for 80 people to subscribe £60 per annum to the Club which will form a total fund of £4,800. We will then make a draw 10 times a year and each draw will produce one prize of £160 and one prize of £80. With 10 draws a year and 2 prizes per draw, you have a 1 in 4 chance of winning back more than your stake which represents pretty good odds! At the same time, the cricket club will benefit from income of £2,400 per year towards maintaining the facilities.
Thereafter the draws will be every month for 10 months and renewals will be sent out in July of each year. If we find that we cannot generate enough interest in the venture, cheques will be returned after the end of November. I do hope that you will feel able to support this venture to help to secure the exciting future of the cricket club.
Yours sincerely,

Current Number of 50/50 Members = 51
Target Number of Members = 80
Current First Prize as of March 2009 = £110
With the new ground project fund raising is vital for the club's stability for the future so please join and support Cokenach Cricket Club.
