From the M25
Travel around the M25 to Junction 23 for the A1(M). Turn north onto the A1(M) heading to Welwyn Garden City. Continue along the A1(M) until Junction 9 signposted to Baldock. Turn off at Junction 9 turning right at the main roundabout and go through the centre of Baldock town. Follow signs for Royston on the A505, towards Newmarket. At A10 roundabout, turn right towards Royston following signs A10 Hertford. Fork left at the one way system towards Barkway, Barley (B1039). Follow this road out of Royston until you come to a sharp left hand bend where you turn right, following the signs to Barkway.
From the M11/Newmarket
From the M11 exit at Junction 10 and follow the A505 (Duxford) to Royston. If you are coming from Newmarket leave the A11, before joining the M11, following signs for the A505 to Royston. Approximately 5 miles on you will see a motel on your right and Total garage on your left. Take the left turn to Barley/Barkway and follow the road into Barley. At the first crossroads, turn right towards Royston and follow the road for two miles.

Barkway is a long established village and civil parish in the North Hertfordshire district of Hertfordshire, England, about five miles south-east of Royston,35 miles from London and 15 miles from the centre of Cambridge.
Reputedly listed in the Doomesday Book as "Birchwig" Birch Way. Barkway has a number of 15th and 16th Century properties, some with beautifully thatched roofs. Most properties are on or near the High Street, which is part of the old London to Cambridge Coaching route. Barkway has had a village church for over 1000 years. The current flint and stone church, which is over 800 years old, has a full peel of 8 bells which are rung every week. The village has an infants school, The Tally Ho Pub, a recreation ground with children's play area and football pitch, a Golf Course, 2 Garages and a number of active social organisations. According to the 2001 census Barkway had a population of 656[1]. Two major estates are adjacent to the north of the village "Cokenach" - which has a long established cricket club and "Newsells" which is now an impressive Stud Farm.
